Blended Finance in Agrifood Systems: The case of Latin America and the Caribbean

This three-part webinar series explores how blended finance can unlock investment for sustainable agrifood systems in Latin America and the Caribbean—a region rich in biodiversity but increasingly affected by climate change and ecosystem degradation. Designed to inform, the series offers a mix of foundational knowledge, real-world examples, and practical insights from regional experts.

Session 1 – The Case for Financing Sustainable Agrifood Systems
This session highlights the urgent need to direct more capital toward sustainable agrifood systems in the region. Despite their central role in food security, climate resilience, and livelihoods, these systems receive only a small fraction of global climate finance. The discussion sets the stage by framing the financing gap and its broader implications.

Session 2 – Blended Finance: Overcoming Barriers to Investment
Focusing on the fundamentals of blended finance, this session introduces key concepts and financing structures used to mobilize private investment. It also features concrete examples from Latin America and the Caribbean, offering a deeper understanding of how blended finance is being applied in practice.

Session 3 – Innovative Finance in Practice: Lessons Learned from Practitioners
The final session brings together high-level experts to share their experiences implementing innovative financing strategies on the ground. Speakers reflect on lessons learned, common challenges, and success stories, illustrating how blended finance is driving meaningful impact across the region.
